Run for Tzuyuli
" Run for Tzuyuli " is an interactive board game that aims at raising the awareness of health promotion for the elderly. Using the game as a media to convey the idea and the knowledge of health promotion among the elderly.
Providing people the knowledge of how they can improve their health on a daily basis, what danger they can prevent from or keep maintain when being old.
The final product - "Run for Tzuyuli" board game for elderly people was published by the YS foundation and available to purchase through online commerce.
The project was invited to exhibit in the World Design Capital Taipei 2016 World Exhibition. Furthermore, the city caring centers in Taiwan are using the board game as an educational tool to convey the health knowledge.

Background
5% Design Action is an None-goverment Organization in Taiwan. Devoting to solving social problems, ranging from Economics, Education to Health and Environment, and this time we focused on Health issue.

YS foundation is an organization that devotes in the segment of the aging population and elderly topic. It provides many events, workshops, training program, online course and publications about how to lead a healthy and happy elderly life.
In this project, an co-creation workshop is arranged which bring designers, rersearcher, social workers and care altogether to solve an social issue that we’re going to face in a few years - aging society.

Challenge
In 2016, the old age population dependency ratio is going
to exceed the one in young age, which means we are in
aged society.

The finance of medical system is going to be unaffordable in five years in Taiwan. How to keep the elderly in a health situation is our first priority. Healthy situation can prevent the elderly from staying in the hospital and become a burden of a family.

Process
The project started from exploring the problem: The finance of the medical system is going to be unaffordable in five years in Taiwan. What intervention can be done to change the situation. Interviewing relevant stakeholders to gain insight; conducting co - ceration session with revelant stakeholders to find out different possibiities.

Interview
We interviewed two experts, and two elderly people who participate the classes in Ys foundation. Ys Foundation is an professional learning site which have good reputation for their elderly classes in the community. We gained many insight during the interview. With the domain knowledge in Health industry, we are able to carry out an innovative solution.

2. Expertise - Manager of Daan Care Centre
3. Mrs. Cheng - An 82-year-old health lady, who participates elderly classes in a monthly basis.
4. Mr. Chang - An 79-year-old healthy man, who enjoy his retired life.



Mission & Goal
2016, the aged population dependency ratio is going

The mission and the goal is to convey the health knowledge to as many people as possible.

The design requirement of the game
• Easy to learn - the gaming rule was originated from Monopoly.
• Recall their memory by using the popular cartoon in their generation.
• Integrated the teaching material of YS foundation, and people can enhance their health behavior through playing games.
Final design
Run for Tzuyuli is a game specifically for elderly population. It is an interactive board game which aims at facilitating health as its core function.
Challenges in the game are divided into four categories, namely, exercise, relationship, diet, and lifestyles. As the players collect such four types of game cards, they are entitled to win the coins for Tzuyuli.
Over the games, the elderly practice their physical strength as well as cultivate their interpersonal relationship.
